Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop

The Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop is an introductory workshop for beginners or designers who are wanting to branch out into glass art to create Jewellery.  Prior to booking this workshop it is suggested that you have attended the Glass Forge Fused Glass Taster Workshop, as  as some of the techniques are slightly more advanced.  Further details of the taster workshop can be found here:

Please note this workshop involves cutting small pieces of glass and designing on a small scale which  requires close up work and a steady hand.

What will the Fused Glass Jewellery Workshop entail?

  1. Health and Safety briefing.
  2. What is glass fusing.
  3. Glass types, compatibility, and the importance of the 6mm rule.
  4. Discussing and demonstrating the design arrangement of  simple fused glass jewellery pieces.
  5. Cover a sample of  surface design techniques and possibilities.
  6. Practice cutting  small pieces of glass to incorporate in your piece.
  7. Learn how to layer and assemble design elements  ready  for firing.

What will I make?

During your 2 1/2 hour workshop you can expect to make upto 3 small glass jewellery pieces, such as a necklace and x2 earrings.

Design

As this is a Jewellery Workshop we will explore different glass types  such as transparent, opalescent,  dichroic and iridescent glass. You will experiment with colour, be shown how to create different jewellery shapes and explore how to add design elements to add interest to your work.  such as stringers, frit, enamels and bubbles to add interest to your work.  During the workshop  you will develop an understanding of glass fusing and with guidance  this will enable you to make your beautiful bespoke piece.
